Yesterday was the Summer Solstice, the astronomical event when the tilt of Earth’s axis is most directly pointed towards the sun. In layman’s terms, that means if you live in the Northern Hemisphere, yesterday was the day with the most daylight hours of the entire year, gradually decreasing again until the Winter Solstice on December 21, when daylight hours are at their shortest in the North.
