We’re Packing Our Bags for These Conferences – Are You?
In the midst of winter, it’s nice to have a few trips to warm locales to look forward to, right? While learning conferences are mostly business, it’s still fun to get out of the office, talk to other eLearning and training professionals, and hopefully enjoy some warmer weather than winter in Utah.
These are a few of the conferences we’ll be at this winter/spring.
If you’re attending any of these, give us a shout in the comments! We’d love to have you stop by our booth or maybe go on one of our morning runs with us. Some of our super smart eLearning rockstars are also presenting at a couple of these conferences, so be sure to check their sessions out if you can.

Learning Technologies UK
February 13 – 14, London
Learning Technologies has been happening for 20 years now. Crazy! It is considered Europe’s leading conference dedicated to organizational learning and the technology that supports learning at work. This year the conference is at a new venue—ExCeL in London’s Docklands. Their website boasts an “inspiring and provocative speaker line up” for this year. That’s a bold statement and I’m interested to see the Twitter backchannel during those speakers. I’ll definitely be refreshing #LT19uk on Twitter!
These rockstars from eLearning Brothers are presenting the following sessions at Learning Technologies UK:
The Hero’s Journey
Presented by Curtis Morley, Director of Marketing, eLearning Brothers
Today’s learners expect a lot from their learning games. This session explores elements in learning games that deal with the narrative, which can make all the difference. We’ll explore proven concepts from the “Hero’s Journey.” These apply to all incredible stories—from Rocky Balboa to Luke Skywalker to Indiana Jones. These elements get people enthralled. Dedicate your attention to this session and return to your job with story elixir!
Building Game Elements – How Hard Is It?
Presented by Andrew Vass, Developer and Evangelist, eLearning Brothers
It’s been pounded into our brains that gamification is an essential component of any learning experience—if our learners aren’t having fun, they won’t retain the information. But how exactly do you build these elements into your training? It’s easier than you might think. This session will cover:
-What constitutes a “game”
-Examples of gamification in eLearning
-How to build game elements in some of the most popular eLearning authoring tools, including Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, and Lectora

Training 2019 Conference & Expo
February 25 – 27, Lake Buena Vista, Florida
eLearning Brothers is not exhibiting at Training 2019—our booth team needs a break now and then—but the amazing Rich Vass, Director of Custom will be presenting with eLearning Brothers alum Dan Dellenbach there. If you can’t make it to London to see Curtis present on The Hero’s Journey, this is your chance to see Rich and Dan speak on that topic instead. Honestly…Florida is probably warmer, and definitely cheaper to fly to… But London is just awesome because it’s London, so that’s a tough decision.

Learning Solutions
March 26 – 28, Orlando, Florida
Another conference in Florida. I’m starting to see a theme here. Learning Solutions Conference & Expo aims to provide you with “real solutions to create new strategies, increase engagement, and leverage the power of learning technologies.” I like to think of this one like a mini DevLearn. eLearning Guild always puts on a quality conference, so if you want great content without the crazy crowds of DevLearn in the fall, this is a great option.
You can follow #LSCon on Twitter to keep up with tips from sessions and see what’s happening at the Expo if you’re not attending. And of course, keep an eye out for our photos from the conference!

One last thing…
If you’ve seen us at any conference, you know we always have some great booth giveaways and swag. Therefore, it would just be crazy not to stop by and see us, right? We thought so.
